Garden design in Teddington and SW London

We design your garden to maximise the space. Whether you want maintenance free or a garden made for enjoying, we optimise every aspect.

A garden design project in SW London

We design gardens that fit how you actually live. Some clients want a low maintenance space they can sit in with a coffee on a Saturday morning. Some want a proper entertaining area with a patio big enough for a long table. Some want their kids to be able to run around without ruining the planting. Whatever it is, we plan around the use, not around a Pinterest board.

Options

Materials and approaches we work with

Plan only

Useful if you want to build the garden yourself or use another contractor. You get the plan and planting list, no build.

Plan plus build

The most popular option. We plan it, then we build it. One team responsible from start to finish.

Refresh

For gardens that mostly work but need new planting, replacement edging, or a tidied-up patio. Smaller scope, lower cost.

Process

How the job runs

  1. 01

    First visit

Free, about 45 minutes. Alfie looks at the space, asks how you use it now and how you want to use it, and takes photos and measurements.

  2. 02

    Plan

We come back with a plan, materials samples where it helps, and a clear quote. Two rounds of changes are included.

  3. 03

    Build

Once the plan is signed off we book the work in. Most full builds run two to four weeks. We keep the site tidy at the end of every day.

  4. 04

    Handover

Alfie walks you round the finished garden, explains what's been planted where, and leaves an aftercare guide. We're always at the end of the phone if you have questions later.

Cost

What affects the price

Quotes are itemised, but here's what moves the number up or down.

  • Garden size and access (a rear garden you can only reach through the house adds time)
  • Hard landscaping vs soft landscaping ratio (paving and walls cost more than planting)
  • Choice of materials (porcelain costs more than concrete, hardwood costs more than softwood)
  • Whether the existing garden needs clearing first
  • Drainage, levels and any retaining walls needed
  • Lighting and irrigation if you want them

For honest indicative ranges, see the pricing guide.

Timeline

How long it takes

Plan stage usually takes two to three weeks from first visit. Build is anything from a week for a refresh to six weeks for a full overhaul.

Aftercare

Looking after the finished job

New planting needs watering for the first season. We leave you with a watering schedule and a planting plan so you know what each plant is. Hard landscaping is largely maintenance free, though jointing on patios benefits from a brush down once a year.

What clients say

Highly recommended! Alfie and his friend changed our fences and did a fantastic job. They were efficient, quick, hardworking and the price was very reasonable. Really pleased with the result. Thank you again.

Alfie and his team did a great job replacing our back fence. It was mess due to neighbours trees and rubbish pushing up against the wood panels. They cleared everything up and ensured nothing putting pressure against the new fence. They worked fast, removed all rubbish, and well priced. The fence looks fantastic. We will be using his services again, highly recommend.

FAQ

Garden Design FAQs

Do I need a designer or just a landscaper?

If you know exactly what you want, a landscaper is fine. If you're staring at the garden and not sure where to start, a design stage will save you money in the long run because it stops expensive mistakes.

How much does a garden design cost?

Plans start from a few hundred pounds for a small garden refresh and run into the low thousands for a full design with planting plan and lighting. Build costs are separate and depend on what's in the plan.

Will you do the planting too?

Yes. We source plants from trade nurseries in Surrey and Hampshire, plant them in properly prepared soil, and stake or support anything that needs it.

Do you work with architects or interior designers?

Often, yes. If you have an architect on a house extension, we can pick up the garden side and coordinate access, levels and drainage with them.

Can I keep parts of my existing garden?

Yes, and you usually should. Mature trees, established hedges and good quality paving are often worth keeping. We'll tell you honestly what's worth saving and what isn't.

How far in advance do you book up?

Spring and early summer fill up first. For a full build we usually book six to ten weeks ahead. Smaller jobs can sometimes fit in sooner.

Want a quote for garden design?

Site visits are free, no pressure. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll come round at a time that suits.
